Altrusa Clubs of Northwest Arkansas aid School damaged by record floods.

During the recent record flooding of the Arkansas River, the Moffett School (400 Pre-K thru 8th grade students) in Moffett, Oklahoma was totally flooded and everything inside ruined. The five northwest Arkansas Altrusa Clubs (Bentonville/Bella Vista, Fayetteville, Rogers, Springdale and Washington Co.) gathered new books to replace those lost in the school library and classrooms.They delivered 912 new books and $100 to the Altrusa Club of Fort Smith for distribution to the school.


The Altrusa Club of Bentonville/Bella Vista has Book-nooks all over their community to get free books into the hands of local children. During the clubs fiscal year (June 2018 - June 2019) the club has put more than 15,000 books into book-nooks at, the DEB Project, the Sugar Creek Laundry, Metfield, the Artist Retreat Center. Autumn's ReRide Youth Ranch, local libraries, the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, the NWA Children's Shelter, the Single Parent Scholarship Fund, and Havenwood. Altrusa believes "Today's Readers will be Tomorrow's Leaders" and they are working hard to help make that possible.
